Exhibition: Silent Books Collection - an exhibition of international wordless picture books

  • In response to the waves of refugees arriving in the Italian island of Lampedusa, the Silent Book project was launched in 2012. Collections of worldless picture books that can be understood and enjoyed by children regardless of language were assembled in over twenty countries. South Dublin Libraries have a permanent collection of the Silent Books which will be on view in Clondalkin Library for the month of September. All welcome. There is no need to book.

Scratch Coding Workshop for Children at Clondalkin Library

    Saturday 29th September: 2 sessions: 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm.

     

    This is a taster session in Scratch coding. Scratch is a visual, user-friendly method of programming and introduces coding to children in a fun way. Laptops will be provided. Please book one session only per child. This event is suitable for children in 2nd, 3rd or 4th class. Book through Eventbrite at http://clondalkinlibrary.eventbrite.com.

     

     

     

Wild Magic with Celine Kiernan

    Celine Kiernan is best known as an author of fantasy novels for young adults including her acclaimed Moorehawke Trilogy. Her fourth book, Into the Grey, won both the CBI Book of the Year Award and the CBI Children’s Choice Award in 2012. Her latest book Begone the Raggedy Witches is the first in her new Wild Magic Trilogy and is aimed at readers aged 9 and upwards. Born and raised in Dublin, she now lives in Virginia, Co. Cavan.

     

    Class visit only. Suitable for 3rd - 6th class and second level students.

Story time followed by arts and crafts

  • Suitable for ages 3-6. Listen to stories and then do some arts and craft activities connected with the stories. All welcome. There is no need to book.

BFFs, Time Travel and Judi Curtin!

    Judi Curtin is the best-selling author of the Alice and Megan series, the Eva series and many other books. Judi’s new series, beginning with Time After Time, is about Beth and Molly, accidental time-travelling best friends. Judi Curtin won the Irish Book Award 2017 for Stand By Me. The third in this series, You’ve Got a Friend, was published in September 2018.
