June events at the County Library Tallaght

Summer is almost upon us and our annual Summer Stars reading programme for children will start on 12th June. Children will need to register at the desk and obtain a reading card which is stamped for each book they read. There are lots of rewards and goodies available.

We have not forgotten the adults. Highlight this month include:

  • A 3 week iPad and Tablet course for beginners. You will need to bring your device along and also your library card so you can log on to the library WiFi.
  • A talk by Yanky Fachler on the Jewish refugee experience during World War II. This is to commemorate World Refugee Day. Members of Yanky's family lost their lives during the Holocaust.
  • Nigel Monaghan, Keeper of the Natural History Museum, Dublin, will give a talk on the history of the building and also on some of the science that goes on behind the scenes.
  • Niall Hatch of BirdWatch Ireland reveals the rich birdlife of the local area in a talk which also gives you tips on how to care for the birds which visit your garden. Niall is a regular contributor on Mooney Goes Wild on RTE Radio 1.
