Castletymon Library has been serving the local community for the past 25 Years. We offer a wide range of materials for borrowing and services such as:
- For adults, there is an extensive selection of books, from best sellers and up to the minute biographies, to travel guides and gardening books.
- You can pick up a copy of the Driver Theory Test or learn a language with our many multimedia courses.
- We have a huge range of DVDs, covering such popular tv series as The Sopranos and the latest dvd releases. These can be borrowed for a week at no charge.
- You can borrow a picture, through our print loan scheme, or a magazine from our extensive range of periodicals.
- Browse the daily newspaper or check out our latest exhibition.
- Internet access and printing facilities are available to library members and we offer a photocopying and a fax service.
- Pick up a form for passport renewal or for your driving licence. We carry an extensive selection of other forms.
- Check if your name is on the voter’s register, or avail of our WiFi with your laptop.
- See what’s happening locally and nationally by studying our huge selection of community information.
We offer an ongoing series of courses and activities from Computers for Beginners to Spanish conversation and a lively book club. What’s on offer will vary over time so check our monthly brochure, library website or local media for what’s currently on offer.
For children, we carry a large selection of books for every age from babies to teens.
- We provide graded readers which help develop confidence in young readers.
- We have a separate Young Adult area and a study area. We stock support material for Leaving and Junior Cert courses.
- Activities for children include a regular story time, junior book club and art and craft sessions.
- During the school holidays and Children’s Book Festival, we run a range of extra events for children. There is always a selection of games, toys, jigsaws and activities available for children who drop in after school.
We welcome visits from primary and post-primary classes and we are happy to visit schools and playgroups. Teachers may avail of our block loan facility to get long term loans of books for use in the class room.
Castletymon Library is completely wheelchair accessible and there are two disabled parking spaces right outside the door. We have a loop system for the hard of hearing and an affinity reader to adapt printed material for people who have a visual impairment.
