Whitechurch

Whitechurch Library is a small part-time former Carnegie Library on Taylors Lane in Rathfarnham. It was opened in 1911 and has been in use since then.  Still in its original condition, the library is open 16 hours a week, providing lending facilities for adults and children.  The WEB Project (contact: 01-4957171 or email), a local community development project which co-ordinates community activities for the Ballydoden area, provides adult education classes, morning afternoon evening in Whitechurch Library.  They can be contacted directly by telephone 4937218 or email thewagmag@hotmail.com.  The library also facilitates HSE and MABS activities. 

Whitechurch Library was opened in 1911 and has been in use since then. Still in its original condition, it is a Carnegie Library of architectural merit.

Ballyboden Social History Group established since 2001, is open to all with an interest in historical and social issues. There are frequent guest lectures on a wide variety of topics, it features workshop type discussions and it is very informal. You can come for one session that is of particular interest to you, or attend on a reqular basis,  In co-operation with the WEB Project who organise the outings and indeed the holidays away, refreshments always served in a friendly homely environment. All Welcome. The current work of the group includes helping the research on a book on the history of Whitechurch  Library, and  'moments in your life', in conjunction with History Ireland.

This project is in co-operation with the WEB Project. the women are making a patchwork quilt to reflect the centenary of Whitechurch Library in 2011. It hopes to reflect in this work of art, the ceativiity and energy of all those who have used this historic building since 1911.  there will be some input from visiting craftswomen, historians and artists to help make this the centrepiece of an exhibition in March 2011  new members are always welcome, support and training in the project will be given. contact Whitechurch Library 4930199 or Meg Murphy telephone 4957171.
