Sensory-friendly Time at Lucan Library

  • To make Lucan Library a more welcoming place for our patrons who may experience sensory difficulties, we will be reducing our lighting and minimising noise levels. The library will operate as normal, and all patrons are welcome to use the library as they usually would during this period.

Musical Tots - 28/02/2019

Early Starters Music Classes with Music Generation South Dublin

  • 2nd March 2019 - 2:00 PM
  • This six week course starts on Saturday 2nd March and continues on 9th, 23rd & 30th March, and 6th & 13th April.

     

    Session 1: Babies (0-2 year olds): 2.00pm - 2.30pm 

    Session 2: Children (2-4 year olds): 3.00pm - 3.30pm

     

    A fun-filled song, movement and percussive musical experience through play. Six weekly interactive sessions give parents the chance to actively participate in preparing their babies and toddlers for the later development of accurate rhythmic skills, pitch skills and sensitivity to the expressive qualities of music through the medium of play!

     

    Please note that participants must attend all six weeks. Participants also can't have attended the previous six week session.

Underwater Microphone Workshop

    The aim of this engineering workshop is to give students the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the construction of a hydrophone (a microphone that can be used for underwater recordings). Children will examine how hydrophones are used in the real world to study underwater sounds and hear actual recordings of marine mammal vocalisations and other underwater sounds. With visual displays, the use of a working hydrophone and underwater sound recordings, students will identify what is required in order to engineer a hydrophone.

     

    Class visit Only. Suitable for 4th-6th class only.
