Health and Wellbeing Week at Tallaght Library

The brochure for Health and Wellbeing Week is now available to download on the South Dublin County Council website at http://www.sdcc.ie/news/health-and-wellbeing-week-2016. This covers events being held throughout the South Dublin area.

Here is some more detailed information on events taking place at Tallaght Library. Some of this is not available in the brochure and some of the information in the brochure is incorrect.

Thursday September 1st and the following five Thursdays: 10 am to 12 noon. "Healthy Food Made Easy". A six week programme focusing on building the food pyramid, nutrients and smart shopping. 

Saturday September 3rd and the following two Saturdays: 10 am to 12 noon. "Nutrition for Pregnancy, Birth and Young Babies". Good nutrition between pregnancy and a child's second birthday sets the foundation for lifelong health and wellbeing. Three workshops. 

Tuesday September 6th: 10 am to 12.30 pm. "Parenting Workshop". Topics covered include well-being in children, healthy eating for children, the importance of books and play in a child's development, play therapy, exploring play through art and bedtime routine. Includes group activities. Children are welcome to attend with their parents. 

Tuesday September 6th: 2 pm to 4.30 pm: "Adult Workshop on Healthy Eating and Physical Activity". Topics covered include portion size, the food pyramid, benefits of physical activity, Tai Chi and similar, and what's available in your area. Includes group activities. 

Monday September 12th: 10.30 am to 12 noon. "Colouring and Relaxation for Adults". Back by popular demand. Try some relaxing breathing exercises followed by a relaxing colouring session. 

Monday September 12th and Monday October 3rd: 2.30 pm to 4 pm. "Healing with Clay". Discover the healing art of clay with Elena Buttner. This a hands-on workshop using clay and creativity to boost our sense of wellbeing. (Note there are two sessions and participants need to attend both). 

Wednesday September 14th: 1 pm to 2.30 pm. "Peata Therapy Dogs". Peata Therapy Dogs visit patients in hospitals and residents in nursing homes to brighten up their day. These dogs and their humans will visit Tallaght Library giving you an opportunity to meet them for a stress-reducing and relaxing time.
