National Accessibility Week 2012 - Disability and Social Policy Catalogue

November 29, 2012

Disability and Social Policy CatalogueNational Accessibility Week takes Place from 3rd to 7th December 2012.

South Dublin Libraries aim to promote and provide accessible services to all library users.  The public library service is an important focal point at the heart of the local community and aims to be pro-active and dynamic in addressing its varied needs, particularly in the areas of information, culture and heritage, literature and lifelong learning.

We are aware that providing access to disabled people must go much further than merely providing ramps, Braille, Loops and providing information in a variety of formats. The aim of this Disability Studies catalogue is to share information about disability that is not impairment specific or focused on medical issues - to share rights based writing, from disabled and non-disabled academics and activists who work within a social policy rights based mindset.
