3RD ANNUAL WORLD POETRY DAY COMPETITION
After last year’s competition, which had over 150 entries, Ballyroan Library is delighted to present its third annual poetry competition to celebrate World Poetry Day (21st March).
There is no set theme. Poems must not exceed 40 lines and must be original and unpublished. All styles and forms are welcome. The competition is open to poets aged 18 and over.
1st Prize - €100, 2nd Prize - €50, 3rd Prize - €30
A number of additional poems will be shortlisted and all poems will be published on South Dublin Libraries’ website.
The winners will be announced at an event in Ballyroan Library in May.
HOW TO SUBMIT:
Submissions are ONLY accepted by email and can be sent to
Poets may submit up to two poems for consideration. Please make sure to include in your email: name, telephone number and a short biographical note (50 words max).
Please include the poem(s) both in the body of the email AND as a separate attachment.
The submission period is open from 21st March (World Poetry Day) to 21st April 2017. Submissions sent outside of this period will not be read.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
The competition is only open to poets based in Dublin and shortlisted poets must be able to attend an event in Ballyroan Library in May to where all shortlisted poets will read their poems and the winners will be revealed. Employees of South Dublin County Council and South Dublin Libraries are not permitted to enter.
