Check our policy below with tips for safe and fun internet use
Access by Children
- Using the internet is a fun way to learn, discover new interests and to chat to friends.
- Parents should supervise their child's use of the library public access PCs. Library staff cannot undertake this duty.
- Young Adults may not use children's computers and must use adult public access PCs.
- Below are some steps to safe use of the internet.
- Avoid giving out personal information online to people you don’t know.
- Only open and accept emails from people you know. Emails from others may contain viruses or nasty messages.
- You can be who you want to be in cyberspace. So can anyone else, so be aware that people may not be who they say they are.
- Bring your parent with you if you are meeting someone you only know online.
- Tell your parent or a trusted adult if someone or something on the internet makes you uncomfortable.
- Be “webwise” and the internet is lots of fun.

Congraulations to the winners.
2011 Summer Reading Challenge in South Dublin Libraries
The theme for this year is Going Places with Books, and the challenge will take place during July and August in all our branches.
The Summer Reading Challenge is simple. We want you to read ten or more books borrowed from the library during your summer holidays. Sign up at your local branch or mobile library. You will receive a loyalty card which is stamped each time you read a book. Once the card is completed, it is entered into a draw which takes place at the end of the summer. You can fill as loyalty cards as you want – the more books you read, the more loyalty cards you fill up.
We are also encouraging you to write to us and tell us where you are and what you are reading. We have designed a postcard which you can send from any interesting location, from sun soaked beaches to the Phoenix Park, and tell us what you are reading there.
Get your loyalty card and postcard from your local South Dublin library and start reading now!
