Zinio - LibrariesIreland

Zinio delivers magazines to your screen wherever you are.

Zinio is a magazine shelf for iPad, iPhone, Android and Windows 8 devices.
Readers can store and read full magazines offline and sync magazine libraries across multiple devices.

You can also use laptops and PCs. It’s easy to use and all you need is your library card (beginning with a D4) and PIN.

There are two logins require – one to sign up to Zinio from South Dublin Libraries
and the other to create your own personal magazine collection from the titles on offer.

Account #1

 Click on Create Account - you will need your D4 South Dublin Libraries’ card and an email. 
You will be asked to authenticate your email to login. This allows access to the library titles.

Account #2

 This account allows you to create your own personal magazine collection
from the titles on offer and to  activate the mobile app (called Zinio).
It is probably advisable to have the same email for both accounts.
This account is called “my library”

Once you click on a magazine it opens and you can turn pages by touching
or clicking on the edge of the page. Hyperactive links will take you to other pages or links.

If a title requires Reader 4, this software can be freely downloaded.
It allows the titles to be downloaded and read offline. You only need to download the software once.

BorrowBox is the new ebooks and eaudio service from Bolinda.

Language Learning Online

South Dublin are delighted to introduce you to a new online language learning service - Mango Languages

This service is being provided as part of a Libraries Ireland initiative and you can access the service and start learning now

Mango Languages

Using Mango to learn or improve your knowledge and use of foreign language gives you access to over 80 languages.
To sign up and start to learn,  you will need to click "create a profile"  and you will need you library card number as part of the registration process.

Learn something new today! Universal Class - Choose from over 500 online Continuing Education Courses - enroll in up to 5 courses.
Connect with a real instructor. You will need a valid library card and email address to register to use Universal Class. Registering to create an account only needs to be done once.

Mental Health Ireland

Mental Health Ireland is a national voluntary organisation with 104 local Mental Health Associations
(MHAs) and branches throughout the country. The membership includes mental health professionals
and lay people who provide care, support and friendship for the mentally ill.
MHI aims to promote positive mental health and to actively support persons
with a mental illness, their families and carers by identifying their needs,
providing information and advocating their rights

South Dublin County Libraries is one of four libraries authorities selected
to participate in a nationwide pilot project to promote and provide
environmental information through the public library network.
The ENFO website is available on a dedicated touch screen PC in the County Library, Tallaght and will include national and locally relevant environmental information, issues and events.
The local content of the site, which will be built and added to over the coming year,
will enhance the provision of  information and plans of a developmental and environmental nature.

The website is  and is hosted and administered by An Chomhairle Leabharlanna,
the statutory and advisory body charged with responsibility for the provision of assistance
and advice to public libraries and with advising and making recommendations to the Minister on issues relating to public libraries.

Ordnance Survey Ireland Historic Maps Library Viewer

Historical Ordnance Survey maps are now available for online viewing in public libraries only. The images are high-quality and may be printed.
