Join the Library

Public Libraries are free and open to all.
To join, you will need to present 2 forms of identity - a recent official document showing your current address and photo ID.

Documents such as electricity or gas bills show your address and photo ID can be a passport or Driver's licence. This card is valid to use in all public libraries in the Republic of Ireland.

Some local online services may be restricted. Terms and conditions can be viewed here

Young people will need to have permission from their parent or guardian. Parents can join their children from birth.

There is no charge to join the library. You can sign up to receive pre-overdue notices by email 3-4 days before your items are due back.
There are no library fines levied on overdue book but reminders will be emailed to you when your books become overdue.
Library fines have been abolished with effect from January 1st 2019. Outstanding fines accrued before this date will be waived.
